CMS Releases ACO Data

CMS ACO Data

CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) releases Accountable Care Organization (ACO) data to the public

CMS has released select Accountable Care Organization (ACO) data to the general public. The information released measure sets for ACO  group practices that report under the Physician Quality Reporting System (42 CFR 425.308). Specifically, CMS is now publishing 2012 Diabetes Mellitus (DM) and Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) measures collected via the GPRO web interface.  The publishing of these measures supports the goal of transparency and allows stakeholders to better understand key elements of quality of care performance.

In order for the ACOs to be successful, they need to have 65-75% of the patients listed in the above quality care metric categories to have met certain quality care measures: A1c <8%,  BP <140/90, Tobacco Non Use, Aspirin Use, ACE inhibitor or blocker use.
